New Documentary Screening!

“Someday Melissa: the story of an eating disorder, loss and hope”

Don’t miss your opportunity to attend the premiere of an emotional new documentary, “Someday Melissa: the story of an eating disorder, loss and hope”, hosted by NEDA Ambassador Judy Avrin, on March 20th, 2:00-5:00pm at the Montclair Art Museum in Montclair, NJ.

On May 6, 2009, Judy’s 19-year-old daughter, Melissa, lost her life to an eating disorder. It was a five-year battle that wreaked havoc on Melissa’s self esteem, her academic success, her friendships and her family.

After Melissa’s death, Judy showed her journal to psychotherapist and eating disorder specialist Danna Markson, LCSW. Melissa’s poem, “Someday…” became the inspiration for the documentary, which Judy created along with producer Danna Markson and Director Jeffrey Cobelli.

I’ll eat breakfast.
I’ll keep a job for more than 3 weeks.
I’ll have a boyfriend for more than 10 days.
I’ll love someone.
I’ll travel wherever I want.
I’ll make my family proud.
I’ll make a movie that will change lives.

The one-hour film will be followed by a presentation at 3:30 p.m. on the making of the film by Avrin and Markson, titled: “What We’ve Learned About Eating Disorders and the Power of Hope.”

A Question & Answer session and a reception will follow at 4 p.m.
